Bought Out of Slavery and Under a New Master

1 Corinthians 7:23

(Weymouth) “You have all been redeemed at infinite cost: do not become slaves to men.”

(Williams) “You have been bought and actually paid for; stop becoming slaves to men.”

This makes it sound like we were bought at a slave market. If that is so, then we are bound to our owner and can not be obedient to someone else. Yet many of us keep finding ourselves bound to addictions, vices, and old habits. These things are not our masters if we have been truly bought. We have a new master who has given us a new heart. Think about what Ezekial says “And I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will take away the heart of stone from your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh” (Eze 36:26 BBE). Think about what is happening in your life as I am doing more and more frequently and find out what the true nature of your self is in relation to the true nature of a Holy God who can not exist in the realm of sin. Seek Truth.
