We are in bondage and have been conquered, defeated, and gotten the better of. In other words, we are slaves.
2 Peter 2:19
(WEB) “for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.”
(Williams) “for a man is the slave of anything that conquers him.”
(BBE) “because whatever gets the better of a man makes a servant of him.”
We need to watch out for whatever conquers, overcomes, or gets the better of us because those things make us slaves. If we are repeatedly struggling with something, then we may be in bondage as a slave and are not truly free. We really need to seek freedom. If any of the above is even remotely true, then it is time to spend time on our knees.
